Relationships
As schooling at home mothers, we are pulled in many different directions. Everyone depends on us. We are the managers of the home and are responsible that everything runs as smoothly as possible. We find the solution to problems and are the listening ear to all family members. When our children are little and we need to spend large amounts of time with them, it can be easy to neglect the other important people in our lives. At this busy end of school year time, take a moment to reflect on your life, and make sure you give time to the most important relationship in your life - your husband.
One day our children will leave home, and it will be back to just our husband and ourselves living together. Will you still have a relationship worth preserving? It is so easy to put all our energy into our children and revolve our lives around them - but they will move on. Yes, children take much time, energy and effort, but should never be the reason for us to neglect or ignore our husbands.
We also need to teach our children to respect their father. No parent is ever perfect, but this is not a reason to allow our children to be disrespectful or rude. We should teach our children that they are allowed to have a different opinion/point of view and yet they must still show respect.
Parenting is full of challenges from the tiny newborn baby through to the adult they become. None of us get it all right. That is not possible. All we can do is our best, be willing to admit mistakes, seek forgiveness when required, and continue on. Life is a journey full of learning. Make it a wonderful journey with your family.
Until next time
Ruth
